Richmond Harriers

Thanks to all our helpers/officials, Christine and Brendan Dell, John Coleman, Barry Lynch, Ca and Jessica O’Callaghan, Max Giblett, Greg Byrne, Bill Peterson, Kevin Solomon, and Moose.

A good turnout with 28 competitors and 7 teams.

Track season starts October 9th at Box Hill – BE THERE

Thanks to the many officials and club helpers – Moose, Neil Ryan, Frank Brennan, Mal Cother, Greg Byrne, Max Giblett, Bill Peterson, Christine and Brendan Dell, John, Rhys and Harry Coleman, Marissa O’Leary, Joji Mori, Briony Shaw and Kevin Solomon – it was good to see so many Richmond Harriers people helping out on what is one of our biggest days of the year.

Next race will be the Tan Relays – Saturday 18th September 9.00a.m. start

The results of the handicap indicate the difficulty of the course – as Bob Glover says in Competitive Runner’s handbook “Cross country is a different kind of sport, best appreciated when it’s over”.    I think we can all agree with this.

Joji and Marissa took first place,  Tony Langelaan took “Run of the Day” in the Men’s and Sharon Higgins in the women’s event.  Special mention should also be made of young Thomas Harvey who ran 25.15 showing great potential.  We also welcome Georgia Pike who ran as an “Invite” but in Richmond colours  One again thanks for the assistance of our club’s volunteers, many thanks to Christine Dell, John Coleman, Max Giblett, Barry Lynch, Kevin Solomon and Bill Petersen.

Congratulations to Brendan Dell who competed in the Pole Vault Competition at Box Hill over the weekend with a height of 2.25.  It was Brendan’s first competition since last summer and he is back into training for the coming season.

Our next club run is The President’s Run, to be held on 14^th August at 2.00p.m.

Open Men 12km

Congratulations to Joji Mori and Petrina Trowbridge for winning the Run of the Day, and to Jake Brown on his selection to the Victorian team.

Congratulations also to Tom Hardham (OLM) who was presented with the Brendan McVeigh Perpetual Trophy as the winner of the U20 Men 800m event from the track and field season.

Next event Cross country at Brimbank Park 31/7/10 (Melway ref 15 B10). Men 16km, Women and Juniors 6km.

Well done to all who braved the conditions on the road between Harcourt and Bendigo. Thanks also to our officials, and the helpers who assisted with transport between checkpoints etc., Christine Dell, John Coleman, Moose and Kevin Solomon.

Next event is Cross Country at Bundoora this Saturday 17th July. Open Men 12km, Open Women 8km, U20 Men 8km. We will also have a number of other juniors there representing their schools over a variety of distances.

Congratulations to Celia De Maria and Peter Moore for the Runs of the Day, and also to Celia for being fastest woman and to Joji Mori for fastest man.
