For everyone else, next event is the City of Yarra/Bob Cook Hcp. at Yarra Bend Park. Meet at the Collingwood athletics track on Heidelberg Rd. Gold coin entry fee. Race starts at 2.00p.m., so be there early enough to sign in and get across to the start line.

Congratulations to Vanessa Supershad on being the Handicap Winner and to Mielikki Spratt for the Junior Handicap event.

Congratulations also to Pauline Allan and Tony Langelaan as fastest woman and fastest man respectively.

Also welcome to new junior athlete Thomas Harvey in his debut race for the Richmond harriers.

Our first race for the winter season was a great result for Richmond. We managed to win the trophy back with only a very small margin of 5 points. Many thanks to all those who competed against Malvern and also to our helpers on the day, a difficult task for them to record all the results.  Quite a few battled against the unseasonally warm conditions.

The Social Committee is arranging a barbeque lunch as a fundraiser for the club following The President’s Run around Lysterfield Lake.  The details are as follows:-

The picnic area is located bottom right hand corner – see map at http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources05/05_1413.pdf Zoom into map for details. Enter from Horswood Road, and head towards main picinic area (near toilet block).

The run will commence at 11.00a.m. and will include a Junior 2kms. race and a senior race of approximately 6kms.  Winter Presentations will follow the President’s Run after which the Social Committee has arranged a barbeque lunch – food (includes vegetarian) $2.50, drinks $1.50.  Raffle tickets will be sold during lunch.

Richmond won the junior race (13 to 26 points) thanks to the young Percy team 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Malvern won the senior race (310 to 317 points). In the seniors the fastest Men’s time was Joji Mori of Richmond in 27:21 and the fastest Women’s time was Tacey Austin of Malvern in 29:59.
